Individual Work
As part of a series of frameworks to transform the Wilkinsburg community one of my focuses dealt with community nodes in the region. I identified the existing vacant Wilkinsburg train station as a potential node due to its proximity to the busway and nearby commercial corridors. I proposed transforming the old train station into a childrens museum with an adjacent outdoor plaza. The design addresses divisions caused by the busway by bringing users up to allow access to buses. By physically reaching out into the urban fabric the entire site is actively engaged with the surrounding community.
