Prefabrication of the porch element of the Hamnett Homestead Sustainable Living Center (HHSLC) occured approximately a mile away from its permanent location. Because of this reason, the entirety of the structure of the porch had to be collapsible in order to be easily disassembled and taken to the site on a truck. My particular focus was on the design and fabrication of flexible steel connection pieces that allowed for easy assembly/disassembly. The final construction on site will include concrete access ramps and a rain water collection systems.
