Individual Work
My thesis project during my final semester focused on the human perception of speed and motion while riding on a bus. While architecture is typically designed for the pedestrian, it is often more common to experience buildings while in moving vehicles. The site of my project was a half-mile stretch of road along the MLK Busway that runs through Pittsburgh. By activating formerly abandoned spaces the project improves economic, social, and physical connections across the busway. A rhythmic series of planes radiate out from proposed recreational facilities to enhance experiential qualities of speed and motion.
