Group Work
During the Fall semester of 2009 I was involved in a pilot course that learned to utilize a 7-axis robot acquired by the School of Architecture's digital fabrication lab. At the end of the course we designed an installation for a 'screen' that would utilize the 7-axis robot technology. Parametric design methods allowed each piece to be customized to fit into the surface. Myself and three other students completed the fabrication of the wall as an independent study from January-March 2010. The wall is comprised of approximately 200 individually plaster-casted components. The molds used for casting were foam blocks that each had customized swarfing patterns milled into them on the 7-axis robot. This project has been published in a variety of journals and magazines.
