Individual Work
This project was my first exploration into working with film. As part of an experimental filmmaking course at Pittsburgh Filmmakers I worked on an installation called 'Train'. Original footage was shot in Super 8 format and hand-processed. The concept of the installation was to focus on the experience of being around a passing train. The film is composed of three different shots of trains that were edited and pieced together based upon sound patterns from the trains. The timing of the film replicated the passing of a single freight train. The film was projected in a loop off of a mechanical 'Image Modulator' that I built. The 'Image Modulator' moves the projected image around the space, while playing on the sounds, movements, and forms of a freight train.
